There are many netbooks available now on the market, but the Toshiba NB300 is a worthy contender for your shortlist of which laptop to buy.
The machine comes with a well powered CPU which is a slightly higher spec than the standard netbook CPU. It delivers excellent performance as a result. The rest of the spec is a standard netbook specification; 1GB RAM, 250GB hard disk and a vast number of expansion ports. It would be nice if it had 2GB RAM but it can be easily upgraded and there are many videos on YouTube showing how to do this.

It features a unique “sleep and charge” port. This means you can plug in any of your devices such as mobile phones or iPods and charge them while the machine is switched off. This is great because the machine features a great battery life so it makes sense to use it as a charging device as well.
It also comes in as a light machine weighing just over 1kg. It features a comfortable keyboard and touchpad making it easy to type on for long periods.

Toshiba Satellite A500 is another world class machine from a leading manufacturer of laptops. It contains a fantastic spec making it a great choice for home entertainment machine.
It is a large sized machine with 16″ screen but manages to come in under 3kg, so while it isn’t too heavy, its not the most portable of machines. This is not a machine for travelling with. It features a well designed case and an excellent keyboard which comes with a backlight making it easy to type on in low lights.
It features a very high quality specification with 4GB RAM, dedicated graphics card and a whopping 500GB hard disk. It can handle even the most demanding tasks such as running games very well indeed making it a great gaming laptop. It even features an integrated TV tuner that can work with digital as well and analogue. It can be connected to a larger TV to watch through and can even work as a digital TV recorder. But the screen is a good size and renders well so it is fine to watch TV and video on direct.
There are bundles of ports and the USB ports can be used to charge devices without the need to turn on the machine.
This is a seriously well specced machine at a bargain price that can be used for entertainment and gaming.

Toshiba Satellite U500 laptop is the latest machine from Toshiba and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor along with 4GB Ram and 320GB hard disk among other things giving it a very good spec for the money.
The unit looks great and it features a unique and modern design. It features a 13.3″ screen and is also very light making it a very good option for business travellers. It features a unique vent design meaning that it doesn’t heat up when using it on your lap.
The U500 comes with a new Toshiba innovation called Eco mode. This mode lets you optimise the battery life. The standard battery will last over two hours which isn’t bad, but Eco mode will push this closer to three.
The performance of the machine is very good thanks to its high spec and it even features a dedicated graphics card meaning you can even use it for games.
This is a perfect option if you are trying to decide which laptop to purchase for your business trips / travels but don’t want to compromise on spec.
