The Advent Altro is a great option if you want a MacBook Air but don’t have the money. It looks fantastic and is very similar looking to the Air at less than half the price. The case is well built and very sleep and the keyboard does not compromise and is very easy to type on. It is almost exactly the same size and weight as the Air making it a seriously light-weight and portable travel companion.

The spec of the machine is good with a well powered processor, 3GB RAM and a 120GB hard disk.
It features some nice additions such as a built in accelerometer which acts as an alarm if the machine is moved when it is activated.

It comes with a 13.3″ screen that renders images very well and the battery lasts for a good four hours.

The performance of the machine is very good thanks to its high spec and it even features a dedicated graphics card meaning you can even use it for games.

Lenovo are specialists in producing market leading laptops. The Lenovo IdeaPad U350 is a great mid-range option. It is a portable machine that offers good features for an excellent price.

The U350 has a great designed case which should be protected by one of the great laptop bags available online and is very light at under 2kg making it a great option for travel. It has a good battery that will power it for over 4 hours. It features a nice keyboard that can be used for long periods and the touchpad is nice and responsive. It also features the ability to zoom in and out using a Mac style touchpad interface.

The machine doesn’t feature an optical drive which is as expected for such a small and light travel machine.
